Tinta! Asibizwa Singasabeli- this is our tribal call and it is in the isiXhosa language. It means that when we are called we answer.  We are Tinta Tribe. An energetic music group born out of the townships of Cape Town.

There are 3 members in our group, namely Shack from Siqalo (a poor Informal setllement in Cape Town), Dj ToM (from Samora Machel, one of the most dangerous townships in Cape Town) and Nkosiyabantu (from  poor community called Kosovo Informal Settlement).

A black and white logo for tinta sig tribe with a mask on a black background.

Our symbol is a traditional African mask that represents that all are one. When we perform, everyone stays united and focused on what we are doing, and that is what the mask represents. We are three members, but we speak as one, move as one, and have one beat. When we are in the studio, we produce with one mind. The mask represents all of us as one.

We started TintaTribe because music is life. We have only known music, and to us, music is life. We feel like our ancestors are moving with us and ensuring that this music gets to where it must get to. We are an instrument, and there is no ending to the music.
